POKOTABI / Hamura
はむら
Located near Keisei-Koiwa Station, Hamura is an izakaya serving a wide selection of small dishes, from motsuyaki and kushiage skewers to simmered beef tendon—ideal for an after-work drink or an easy drop-in.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Just a short walk from Keisei-Koiwa Station, where red paper lanterns light up as evening sets in, Hamura is an old-school tavern lined with affordable skewers and small plates. After settling in, starting with an 'Otsukare beer' to unwind while scanning the paper strips displaying the extensive menu along the wall is the quintessential way to begin. Alongside chicken yakitori staples like negima and gizzard, grilled pork offal skewers such as shiro (intestine), kashima, tongue, and heart can be ordered individually by the stick.
Alongside grilled items, kushiage deep-fried breaded skewers stand as another pillar of the menu. Beyond standard cuts like classic pork kushi-katsu and tender fillet, choices range widely from shrimp wrapped in shiso, pork with kimchi, nori cheese, and quail eggs to various vegetable skewers, making it easy to sample a personalized variety. Slow-simmered beef tendon stew and motsu offal stew are also essential supporting acts, offering a concentrated savory depth that pairs naturally with another round of drinks.
Drink options feature draft and bottled beer alongside a robust lineup of chuhai, including fresh-squeezed lemon and grapefruit, as well as an uncommon cucumber highball. With dishes like teppan-grilled pork belly with bean sprouts, house-made shumai dumplings, and satisfying carb finishes such as grilled onigiri and curry rice, the tavern accommodates a quiet solo evening just as comfortably as a relaxed chat with friends. The pub operates until midnight (24:00) every night except Wednesdays, and transactions are cash only.
